The spacecraft which transported Tim Peake, the UK’s first European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut, to and from the International Space Station, has now landed at York’s National Railway Museum.

You can get up close to the scarred and scorched capsule until 8 March, and retrace Tim Peake’s thrilling 400km journey back to Earth from the International Space Station using the latest Samsung Gear VR technology. Space Descent VR is an out-of-this-world virtual reality experience narrated by the astronaut himself, suitable for ages 13+.

 

 

British Astronaut Tim Peake orbited Earth almost 3,000 times during the Principia mission to the International Space Station. He even ran the London Marathon! Now you can come face-to-face with the historic piece of engineering that transported him safely back to Earth. Get up close to the Soyuz TMA-19M descent module, learn about Tim's mission and marvel at mankind's journey from steam to space.

Experience a once in a lifetime journey in Space Descent VR - a space-age virtual reality experiencenarrated by Tim Peake himself. State-of-the-art Samsung Gear VR gives a 360⁰ view inside the Soyuz TMA-19M capsule and puts you in the driving seat for a mission unlike any other. The VR imagery has been created for the Science Museum Group, and is supported by Samsung with the provision of the latest Samsung Gear VR headsets and a bespoke VR Lounge inside the museum. 

Technology experts Samsung, will also be gifting the runner up of the competition with an incredible prize. The runner up will receive a Samsung Galaxy S8 handset, with an edge-to-edge Infinity Display and Bixby personal assistant, coupled with a Gear VR headset which allows the lucky winner to open a world of possibilities and incredible new immersive experiences.

Prize

  • A 3 night weekend break for 2 adults and 2 children to Disneyland Paris including 3 nights in a hotel and a 2 day park pass. Travelling from Leeds Bradford Airport to Charles de Gaulle Airport departing on the 12th October 2018.

Terms and conditions of entry

 

  • Only one entry per individual will be counted.
  • Entrants must be over 18 years of age.
  • The prize is non-transferable, non-refundable and there is no cash alternatives.
  • This prize cannot be exchanged for anything else.
  • This prize can only be redeemed using the suppliers provided by the holiday booking agent

  • Prize winners will require a full UK passport.
  • The Promoter reserves the right to substitute similar alternative prizes of equal or greater value

  • If you are not available to take part in the date on the date we have specified your application will not be counted and you fill forfeit your place in this competition.
  • All entrants must be available to appear on camera and be recorded as part of this competition otherwise your application will not be counted and you fill forfeit your place in this competition.
  • Online selected finalist will be notified on Monday 5th of February 2018 and must be available to commence the competition from 10am on Saturday 10th of February 2018
  • Minster FM, UKRD the National Railway Museum cannot accept any liability for injury to any persons that may occur on the premises or within the grounds.
  • The Programme Controller's decision is final.
