Soldiers and Officers from 2nd Signal Regiment, who have recently returned from a six month tour of Afghanistan will receive their Operational Service Medal from HRH The Princess Royal at a private families parade in York today.

The parade will see the 300 soldiers who deployed into Helmand Province and Kabul march onto a parade square to the sounds of the Royal Signals band to receive their medals in front of family and friends.

While in Afghanistan, the Regiment provided a vital link of communications to all British Forces deployed.

Alongside Her Royal Highness who is Colonel in Chief of the Royal Signals, presenting the medals will be, Lieutenant General Robert Baxter CBE, Master of Signals, and Brigadier Jonathan Cole, who is Brigade Commander 11th Signal Brigade.

The parade is also a chance for the Regiment to pay tribute and thank the families for their support throughout the deployment.
