Yorkshire Water Searches For Local Family To Reveal All

Are you curious about what happens to your waste water or keen to find out just where your water bill money goes? If so, Yorkshire Water want to hear from you as it launches a region-wide search for a Yorkshire-based family, consisting of at least three generations, to front its biggest ever customer consultation.
Between May and October 2013, Yorkshire Water say it is giving its five million customers the opportunity to shape what the company's business plan looks like between 2015 - 2020, by asking them to share their views on just what they would like to see the company investing their money in. The plan, which will outline exactly how Yorkshire Water intends to spend customers' money between 2015 - 2020, will determine where service and operational improvements are made and how much customers will pay.
This is where the Yorkshire family comes in.
Yorkshire Water say that the latest research shows that, despite best efforts, approximately 80% of customers still don't know what Yorkshire Water does or what happens to their water bill money. To tackle this issue, the company wants to recruit a real Yorkshire family to help bring what Yorkshire Water does to life amongst its customers and they say to hopefully shattering some myths along the way and encourage everyone to share their views on what the company's investment plan should look like.
In the process, the whole family will be taken out to some of the most breathtaking places in the region, say Yorkshire Water for a series of exciting, action-packed, all expenses-paid adventures. They will also be given three tablet PC's and tickets to some of the region's best family attractions.
Daf Williams, Yorkshire Water's customer consultation champion, comments: "We recognise that everything we do touches on the lives of our five million customers, whether it's providing 1.3 billion litres of world-class drinking water every day, or removing and treating the same amount of waste water on a daily basis before returning it safely back to the environment.
"Because customers lie at the heart of everything we do as an organisation, we feel it's incredibly important that every customer has an opportunity to shape what our future investment and improvements look like, whether that's reducing leakage, improving water quality or doing more to help reduce the risk of flooding, particularly as such investment affects what water bills will look like going forward.
"To kick-start this process, we're looking for a family who are inquisitive, cheeky and fun-loving to embark on an incredible adventure which will offer them some amazing experiences and the opportunity to really uncover just what we do as a company.
"Through talking about their experiences, we hope to bring to life what we do as a company and encourage people to join the debate and give us their views on how they would like to see us spending their money over the next five years."

The deadline for applying is Tuesday 28 May.
Shortlisted families will then be contacted, say Yorkshire Water and invited to attend an audition in Leeds on Saturday 1 June where one lucky family will be selected. They add that all family members must be aged five years or older due to the nature of the experiences.
