Woman Dies After A170 Collision Near Pickering

A woman's died after a collision which occurred near Pickering at 8.50am on Friday 19 April 2013, which involved a Ford Fiesta and a Ford transit van.
Police have confirmed that the woman who was a front seat passenger in the Ford Fiesta, sadly died at the scene of the collision. Officers are currently working with her next of kin to notify other close family members of her death. This is expected to take some time.
The man who was driving the Fiesta was taken to Scarborough District Hospital and a woman, who was a rear seat passenger, was taken via air ambulance to James Cook University Hospital. They both remain in hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries..
The 52-year-old local man arrested in connection with the incident has been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.
The road reopened at 3.30pm on Friday 19 April 2013.
