Meeting to Improve Play Areas in Northallerton
11:43am 3rd April 2013
Twenty groups attended the Play Factor event in Northallerton last month.
It gave Parish Councils and community groups access to a range of information on how to manage, improve or develop play spaces.
Eight different play equipment providers advised groups on the current equipment available - and the breadth of advice and support they can provide to community groups planning on updating or creating a play space.
North Yorkshire Youth was on hand to help groups interested in setting up a youth club – and Nicky Smith, Chair of the Hambleton Play Partnership and a local funding advisor gave guidance on funds available and top tips on how to apply.
Presentations covered community consultation, funding and child development and risk. And Peter Davison of the Husthwaite Recreation Area Committee explained how his group has turned an agricultural field into a recreation area - it has a nature area, multi-use games area, under 8s play area, adventure area and pavilion, as well as an access track and seating areas.
All delegates were given a free resource pack to help them in the future. If you would like to receive a resource pack or would like further information about the event contact Lisa Wilson, Community Leisure Manager at email@example.com
