North York Moors National Park Authority Looks for New Member
11:13am 27th March 2013
The North York Moors National Park Authority is looking to appoint a person to help maintain and promote the high ethical standards of the authority and its members.
The role of “Independent Person” has been created under the Localism Act 2011 which requires all local authorities and National Park Authorities to adopt a local code of conduct for its Members and to appoint an independent person who can advise the council’s Monitoring Officer and Finance, Risk, Audit and Standards Committee on decisions they may need to make about alleged breaches of the code.
The role is currently unpaid, but travelling expenses will be met.
Training will be provided to the successful applicant, however analytic, questioning and investigative skills and some understanding of the roles of elected representatives would be useful.
Applicants must not, however, currently be, or have been in the last five years, an elected member of North York Moors National Park Authority, or be a relative or close friend of any person who is or has been an elected member of the Authority in the last five years.
Further information on the new standards protocol, the work of the Independent Person, a detailed role description and an application form can be obtained by contacting Fiona Farnell by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Applications will need to be returned by noon on 2 May 2013.
