Man crushed to death by forklift truck near Thirsk

A man has been crushed to death by a forklift truck in a factory near Thirsk

The 27 year old  became trapped under the vehicle while working in the stores area of Severfield-Watson (which used to be known as Severfield Rowan) in Dalton
 

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "The force was contacted by the ambulance service just after 8.30am on Wednesday 13 March 2013, to the Severfield Watson site at Dalton Airfield, near Thirsk, following a report of an accident on the site.

 

“On arrival officers found a man who had suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance where he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

“At this stage the death is being treated as a tragic accident and no one else is being sought in connection with the incident.

“North Yorkshire Police is now conducting a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive.”
