1:23pm 18th December 2009

North Yorkshires bracing itself for a second round of snow later today and through the night.

We woke up to a winter wonderland this morning but the regions roads quickly decended into chaos throughout the rush hour.

The gritters have been working tirelessly on the regions roads to make them safe. With more snow predicted tonight, and throughout the weekend Andy Binner is the Acting Head of Highways Infra-Structure at the City of York Council and is confident theres enough salt to keep them going.

North Yorkshire Police have told Minster fm that there were no serious accidents on the roads this morning.

The south has been very badly affected with some areas having as much as four inches - shutting motorway routes and closing airports. TV presenter Davina McCall has slept in her car overnight after being stranded in the snow in Kent.
