Police Hunt Wanted York Man
12:39pm 18th February 2013
York police are asking for the public’s help to locate a man wanted for recall to prison.
Craig Mulgrew, 24, of Wains Road, York is wanted for recall as he has breached the terms of his release licence and is believed to have committed further offences, say North Yorkshire Police.
Officers report that Mulgrew was sentenced to four years and nine months imprisonment at York Crown Court in July 2009, for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, they add that he was released in June 2011.
Police describe Mulgrew as white, 5ft 8in tall, with a medium build and brown hair.
Although Mulgrew’s exact whereabouts are not known, say police, it is believed that he is still in the York area.
Police officers do not believe that Mulgrew is a danger to the public. However, they add that anyone who does see him is advised not to approach him, rather contact the police straight away.
Detective Inspector David Kirby, of York CID, said: “Craig if you see or hear this appeal, I strongly advise you to hand yourself in immediately. You are only making matters worse for yourself by avoiding justice. We will not stop the efforts to trace you until you are back in custody.
“If you know where Mulgrew is, I urge you to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.
“Anyone who may be shielding Mulgrew is not helping him and may even be committing criminal offences in doing so.
DI Kirby added: “We have already been checking addresses in the city to which we believe Mulgrew has links and will continue to do so until he is back behind bars.”
Anyone who can help to locate Craig Mulgrew is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and pass the information to the Force Control Room.
Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 12130026212.
