The Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal and the NSPCC are set to benefit from employee fundraising carried at benenden health after the two charities were revealed as the York-based mutual’s local and national charities for 2013.

The charities were chosen through a staff-led nomination process and they will receive the proceeds of all staff fundraising over the next twelve months, with a programme of events already lined up.

Paul Keenan, Head of Communications at benenden health said:

“Our staff have selected two very worthwhile causes to support through our fundraising efforts during the year.

‘Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal was a very popular choice for our local charity of the year and was nominated by one of our employees who had directly experienced the excellent quality of care that the Hospital provides.

‘We are also looking forward to supporting the NSPCC as our national charity of the year – they play a hugely important role in raising awareness of issues affecting thousands of children across the UK.

‘We have some great fundraising plans for 2013, including a range of internal events as well as employees taking part in challenges such as the Jane Tomlinson 10K Run For All series. We are very much looking forward to working with both of these charities during the year ahead and helping to make a difference for children both locally and nationally.’

Jacquie Cross, Development Manager at Leeds Children’s Hospital said: ‘We treat over 200,000 children a year from across Yorkshire. It depends on the generosity of supporters as everything funded is over and above that provided by the NHS. We are delighted benenden health have chosen the Children's Appeal as their local charity. Together we can help to make a child's stay or visit better, brighter and happier.’

Jo Dale, community fundraising manager for the NSPCC said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to the all the staff at benenden health for supporting the NSPCC. We are delighted to be chosen as one of the charities of the year as the support provided by benenden health will help us continue to offer services for vulnerable children and families across the Yorkshire region and the UK.”
