North Yorkshire Probation Service Wins Award

York and North Yorkshire Probation Trust has been awarded the Customer Service Excellence award for its exceptional standard of service to customers following a detailed and demanding assessment in January.

The Customer Service Excellence standard tests in great depth those areas that research has indicated are a priority for customers, with particular focus on delivery, timeliness, information, professionalism and staff attitude.

The assessment feedback summaries the assessors overall impression:
‘It was clear from the evidence provided throughout the process that the Trust does meet the requirements of the standard. Scoring against each of the elements in the standard was high, with no partial compliances and two elements being scored as ‘compliance plus’.’

The assessors found a great deal of consistency across the various sites and locations visited as part of the assessment. The assessors agreed that a clear strength across the Trust is the attitude, passion and motivation of the staff team.

The assessors also commented on the Trust’s effective partnership arrangements with a wide range of individuals and organisations; partnerships which deliver real benefits.

The quality and effectiveness of partnership working has resulted in two elements of the award being scored as ‘compliance plus’.

This reflects a number of aspects of the work of the Trust, including the way that Integrated Offender Management has been developed and implemented, the depth of partnership working with local authorities and the quality of the links with local community groups and organisations.

Leading on promoting and demonstrating excellence within the Trust, Mike Ryan, Director, York and North Yorkshire Probation Trust, said:
“We are delighted to achieve this national recognition. The Customer Service Excellence award is an exceptional achievement for any organisation.

“Our staff work hard to ensure that services are efficient, effective, excellent, equitable and empowering - with our customers at the very core of everything we do.”

The award comes on the back of the 2012 North of England Excellence awards, when the Trust was judged as the best Public Sector Organisations with fewer than 250 people.
