Forecasters are warning that heavier and more widespread snowfall is on its way to North Yorkshire after overnight falls in many places.

An amber warning is in place for the region today, which means be prepared.

A band of sleet and snow is expected to move eastwards across the region throughout this morning and into the early afternoon. It's thought it will fall within a three to four hour period.

Many low lying areas could see between two and five centimetres, whilst parts of Yorkshire's are facing the prospect of ten centimetres.

Travel disruption's predicted on the roads, railways and in the air.
