A woman who claims she was attacked in York city centre tells Minster FM why she feels she can't go to the police.

Sarah - not her real name - says she contacted us because she wanted other women to be more conscious of their safety.

Sarah tells us she was attacked in the city centre late last year and has since heard of several other cases.

She was afraid officers wouldn't take her seriously because she was drunk at the time.

Detective Inspector Ian Dyer from North Yorkshire Police says that's not the case - and has urged Sarah to contact them.

We've passed on Detective Inspector Dyer's contact details to Sarah - she says she's now considering coming forward.

And if you've been a victim of crime - North Yorkshire Police say they do want to hear from you - you can contact them on the non-emergency 101 number.
