Appeal Following Selby Sexual Assault

Selby police are asking for help to identify a man who sexually assaulted a woman in Bright Walk.
North Yorkshire Police say that at around 9.40am on Wednesday 5 December 2012, the victim was walking along Buller Street carrying shopping, they add that she was followed before the assault took place.
Police are appealing for anyone with information which could assist the investigation to contact them. Adding that this includes anyone who can help identify the suspect, anyone who saw a man or youth matching his description in the area between Buller Street and Bright Walk, or anyone who saw the actual incident take place.
The suspect is described by police as white, around 5ft 4in tall, aged around 17 to 18 and had a dark coloured goatee beard. They say that this was noticeable to the victim as he had a young face, and he was wearing a dark coloured beanie hat and tracksuit trousers.
PC Neel Seth of Selby police said: “This is totally unacceptable and alarming behaviour and this person must be stopped before he does it again. I urge anyone who can assist the investigation to contact Selby police as a matter of urgency. Although the victim was physically uninjured, she was very shaken up by the experience.
“Any other women who have been subjected to this type of incident are also urged to get in touch.”
