Raising Cash for the Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Fund

12:00am 3rd August 2012

Fans from the Knights and Featherstone will be treated to some pre match entertainment from the Yorkshire Warriors tonight (Friday 3rd August 2012) as Service Personnel aim to raise money for the Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Fund.

The Warriors were formed in 2006 from the amalgamation of The Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire (14th/15th Foot), The Green Howards (Alexandra, Princess of Wales's Own Yorkshire Regiment) (19th Foot), The Duke of Wellington's Regiment (33rd/76th Foot) and our Territorial Army units.
They are in the process of producing a CD that they will sell to raise money for the Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Fund and will be promoting this at the Huntington Stadium before Friday's match.

The idea of raising money came to light after the recent deaths of six members of the 3rd Battalion in Afghanistan and since losing another young soldier from Hull serving with the 3rd battalion.

Knights and Featherstone fans will be able to support the fundraising efforts by purchasing a wrist band, which will be on sale from the outside the Knights club shop inside the ground, and via a bucket collection.

Commenting on the fundraising Knights General Manager Ian Wilson said:
"We are honored to be hosting the Yorkshire Warriors and to be able to help them with their fundraising efforts. We are in awe of the sacrifices that our service men and women undertake and we are happy to assist them in any way we can. We urge fans of both clubs to support this fantastic cause".
Information on the CD can be found on the Facebook group Yorks Warr Choir or by asking a member at Friday's match.
Turnstiles open at 6:30pm and as usual ticket holders can access Bar 13 from 5:30pm. Away supporters are reminded that the bar is open to all supporters before and after the match. Vice Presidents who have booked a pre match meal are reminded that you must be seated in the restaurant area no later than 5:45pm.
Also don't forget to support the Squad Builder Fund by purchasing a pot of gold ticket and our match day magazine 'York & Proud' which includes the thoughts of Chris Thorman, Mick Ramsden, Ian, the latest supporters information and an interview with dual registered half back Ollie Olds, amongst other things.
Supporters are also reminded to pay a visit to the Knights club shop and take advantage of our mid season sale with 2012 adult replica shirts available for just £25 and many other items also reduced. The full list of sale items can be found, and purchased, at our online shop.
