15 year old attacked in Castleford

Police have issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in relation to an attack on a 15 year old girl in Castleford last Thursday (July 5th 2012).

The incident happened at around 4.15pm when the girl was walking home from school. She was followed by a man along Wilson Street, Saville Road and Moss Street before he dragged her into a ginnel just off Pottery Street where he attempted to sexually assault her. It is believed he was disturbed by some passers by and ran off.

Police would ask anyone who may recognise the person in the image to contact them on 101.

Police are also investigating a second incident in the surrounding area - neither incident is believed to be linked at this stage.

On Thursday 28th June at 11am a 32 year old woman engaged in conversation with a man near to the Cutsyke Railway junction, Leeds Road. They walked to a wooded area off Leeds Road where she was subjected to a serious sexual assault.

The suspect in this incident is described as white male 5" 7' tall, 26 - 30 years smooth skin, not scruffy blond/strawberry blond hair, blue jeans.

Detectives are carrying out enquiries in the area and Castleford Neighbourhood Policing Team officers are in the area to provide reassurance to local residents.
