Stabbing in North Yorkshire

A man has been stabbed in the stomach in York.

Police were called to Cambridge Street in the cityon Wednesday night.

Two men were arrested, one has been charged the other was released on bail.

The 30 year old who was attacked is in hospital in a comfortable condition.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said:

"Police were called by the ambulance service shortly after 10pm on Wednesday 20 June 2012m following reports that a man had been stabbed in the abdomen at an address in Cambridge Street, York".

"He was taken by ambulance to York District Hospital where he is being treated".

“The injuries are not believed to be life threatening.


A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said:

"A 27-year-old man from Stafford House on Cambridge street, York has been charged with section 18 wounding with intent and will appear at York Magistrates' Court on Friday 22 June 2012".

The charge follows an incident which occurred shortly after 10pm on Wednesday 20 June 2012, at an address on Cambridge Street.

“The 25-year-old man arrested in connection with the same incident has been released on police bail.

”The 30-year-old man who was injured remains in York District Hospital in a comfortable condition.”
