'Reserved' decision in Melsonby murder appeal

We'll have to wait a few weeks to find out whether a North Yorkshire convicted murderer can appeal against his sentence.

46 year old Robin Garbutt has appeared before the Court of Appeal today (15th May 2012) fighting to clear his name.

He was convicted last year of killing his wife Diana in their Melsonby post office.

Garbutt's appeal could lead to the conviction being quashed, a retrial, or no change to his current 20 year sentence.

The decision has now been 'reserved', meaning it could be several weeks before we find out the outcome.

High court judges will give their decision at a later date, yet to be announced.
