Remembering North Yorkshires' fallen heroes

The best friend of a soldier from Haxby - killed earlier this year in Afghnistan will be remembering his mate today.

Its 91 years since the end of World War One - dubbed the war to end all wars.

So As the country stands together at 11 o clock this morning, Mathew Segars thoughts will be with the family of his best friend Mathew Hatton.

The boys grew up together, and Lance Bombadier Hatton was killed in an explosion in Helmand in August.

Mathew Seagar says its important to take time out to honnour those who serve their country.

Yesterday Serjent Philip Scotts body was flown back from Afghanistan. He grew up in Malton and was killed out there last week.

Elsewhere The Queen and the Prime Minister will attend a special Armistice Day service later.

The commemoration, at Westminster Abbey, is the first since the last remaining UK-based veterans of the First World War died.
