Suspect description for York armed robbery

Detectives in York are continuing their enquiries into a robbery at a local petrol station.

At around 9.40am on Monday 13th February 2012 a man entered the Gulf Service Station on Hull Road, Dunnington with a knife and stole a large sum of cash.

Officers have a description of the suspect and are urging anyone who knows who he might be to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information.

He is described as white, aged around 30 years old, approximately 5ft 9in tall, with ginger eyelashes and eyebrows and freckles on his face.

At the time of the offence he was wearing a black framed glasses, a black hat and dark clothing.

Detective Sergeant Fiona Wynne, of York CID, said:

"I am urging anyone who can help us identify the suspect to get in touch with the police as soon as possible.

"It is important to bear in mind that the suspect may not wear glasses as a matter of course but could have worn them to change his appearance.

"If you know who is responsible or witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the robbery, please don't hesitate to get in touch."
