Malcolm Gerrie produced the Brit awards in 1999 - where Whitney performed.

He told exclusively told Minster FM about his memories of her:

"What a sad day it is today. In 1999, we had Whitney perform at the London Arena, performing "It's not right" with a fantastic dance ensemble. I have very fond memories of that day."

"She was such a sweetheart. During one of the rehearsals, she found out that one of the crew had a birthday, stopped the rehearsal dead, in the middle of the song, and she just sang happy birthday for one of the guys!"

Stars have taken to twitter to pay tribute to her:

Lady Gaga describes her as a true legend.

Rhianna tweeted - "no words, just tears".

And Katy Perry told followers - So devastating. We will always love you Whitney.
