York annual Christmas Cheer reception for pensioners in the city has become a victim of the recession.
The event has had its capacity cut in half meaning up to 200 elderly residents will miss out.
The event is funded by charitable donations by local businesses and from ticket sales for the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir.
