Woman charged after North Yorkshire hammer attack

A 47 year old woman has been charged with attempted murder following a hammer attack in North Yorkshire.
The 84 year old victim was struck over the head in the public toilets in Leyburn on Sunday.
The woman from the town's due to appear at Northallerton Magistrates Court this morning.

This is an update following the hammer attack in Leyburn on Monday 28 November against an 84-year-old woman.
North Yorkshire Police have tonight charged a 47-year-old woman with attempted murder.
She has been remanded in custody to appear at Northallerton Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning (Thursday 1 December 2011) at 10am in room 1.
Detective Inspector Andrea Kell who led the investigation thanked the Leyburn for community for their support and assistance during the initial stages of the investigation.
