Woman dies after crash on North Yorkshire road

At 5.55 pm on Thursday 24th November 2011, a fatal road rraffic collision occurred on the A169 Malton to Pickering road at Howe Bridge near Malton
The collision was close to a local farm shop and restaurant called the Whole Hog.
The White coloured Citroen van was being driven towards Pickering and was in the process of overtaking a pedal cycle also traveling towards Pickering, when the van was in collision with a red coloured tractor which was being driving in the opposing direction towards Malton.
The driver of the Citroen, a 45 year old lady from Pickering area was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedics
The driver of the tractor, a 47 year old man from Malton was uninjured but severely shocked.
North Yorkshire police would like to speak to anyone who witness this incident or saw the vehicles involved prior to it.

The road was closed for 5 hours while collision investigators examined the scene.
Statement from North Yorkshire Police:
Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in the Malton area.
It occurred at 5.55pm on Thursday 24 November 2011, on the A169 Malton to Pickering road at Howe Bridge, near the Whole Hog restaurant. The collision involved a white Citroen Berlingo van heading towards Pickering and a red Massey Ferguson tractor, travelling in the opposite direction. At the time of the collision there was a pedal cycle heading towards Pickering in the area.
As a result of the collision the 45-year-old local woman, driving the Citroen van, was pronounced dead at the scene.
We are not yet in a position to release her identity.
The 47-year-old local man driving the tractor was not injured.
The road was closed for five hours following the collision.
Traffic Sergeant Neil Campbell, of North Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Group, said:
“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or any of the vehicles prior to the incident. I urge them to contact the police as soon as possible.”
