British Crime Survey stats are out
4:49pm 30th October 2009
Over 20% of residents in North Yorkshire say people using or dealing drugs in their local community is a problem.
That's just one of the stats to come out of the British Crime Survey and shockingly it not too bad, putting us below the national average fo 27%.
Over 19% of us also say people being drunk or rowdy in public spaces is an issue.
But once again that's lower than the national average of 26%.
North Yorkshire Police have been ranked the 11th highest in England for the way antisocial behaviour and crime issues are dealt with.
Chief Constable Grahame Maxwell said "The British Crime Survey is widely viewed as a truer gauge of public perceptions on crime and anti-social behaviour. Therefore it is very satisfying that the efforts of North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Police Authority and partner agencies are making a real difference to the very people we serve in our communities."
