Pensioner attacked by gang of youths

A pensioner in Thirsk has been attacked by a gang in youths outside her home.

It happened on Saturday night on the Norby Estate.

The 66 year old had gone out to challenge the group after they were behaving anti-socially in the street.

Officers would like to trace two girls suspected of being involved in the incident and are appealing to any witnesses to come forward.

The suspects are both white and aged between 13 and 15 years old.

One girl is described as being between 5ft and 5ft 5in tall with a slim build and short dark hair.

The other girl, who was wearing a green knitted cardigan is between 5ft and 5ft 4in tall with curly shoulder length hair.
Sergeant Frances Hannan, of Thirsk Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

"Fortunately the victim was not seriously hurt but this was an unpleasant incident and we would like to find those responsible.

"I am urging anyone who witnessed the incident or knows who was involved, to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information."
