26 hours after a man climbed a building in York threatening to commit suicide, the police didn't get the outcome they wanted.
The gent, who was in a distressed state hanging from scaffolding around Stonebow House, jumped just before 2pm yesterday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin are being informed.
The actions of North Yorkshire Police, who were in constant dialogue with the man, will now be assessed by the Police Complaints Commission.
