Fake bank notes in York
3:15pm 23rd September 2011
Police have released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to after fake Scottish £20 notes were used in a York pub.
The two men used the notes to pay for drinks in the Lowther pub in York earlier this year. It is possible that the men are unaware that the money was counterfeit. However they could have important information which could help the investigation.
We're appealing for the men or anyone who recognises them to contact police on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting incident number 12110085058.
Or, you can give information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
There have been no other incidents of this nature reported in the area. However, we would urge business to make sure they know how to spot counterfeit money, for example via http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/retailers/index.htm.
