York police are investigating after a number of vehicles were damaged on Scarcroft Road.
Overnight between Sunday 31 July and Monday 1 August 2011, vandals targeted the wing mirrors on five cars.
A grey MG had both wing mirrors ripped off, causing approximately £600 worth of damage.
Wing mirrors were also damaged on four further vehicles, a Honda Jazz, a Nissan Almera, a Mazda 6 and a Skoda.
Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the criminal damage or knows who is responsible, to get in touch.
PC Damion Liversidge, of York police, said:
“This unnecessary and pointless act of vandalism has caused great inconvenience, upset and expense to the owners of the vehicles who are, quite rightly, very angry.
“I am appealing to the public to help us find out who is responsible for the damage and I urge anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious around the time of the incident to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information.”
Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact PC Damion Liversidge, of York police, on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting reference number 12110128381.
Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
