Concern for missing 67 year old
1:44pm 7th July 2011
Police concerned for missing 67-year-old man Police are asking for the public’s help to find a 67-year-old man who has gone missing from his home in the village of Riccall (between Selby and York).
Dr Andrew Stanford was last seen by his wife at around 9am on Wednesday 6 July 2011, after he dropped her off at the McArthurGlen (correct) shopping complex near York.
When she returned home later in the day, Dr Stanford’s car was there but he was not. She contacted York police on Wednesday evening when she became concerned by his continued absence.
Police officers are very concerned for Dr Stanford’s welfare as it out of character for him to be out of touch for so long and very unusual for him not let his family know where he is.
Police would like to piece together his movements since dropping Mrs Stanford off at McArthurGlen. Officers have been carrying out extensive searches in and around the Riccall area and are appealing to anyone who may have seen Dr Stanford to get in touch.
Inspector Allan Wescott of York police said:
“I am appealing for anyone who either knows where Dr Stanford is or can help us piece together his movements since yesterday morning.
“Both his family and police officers are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare as it is very out of character for him to be our of contact for so long.
“If Dr Stanford reads or hears this appeal we urge him to contact his family, friends or police and let them know his is safe.”
Dr Stanford is described as white, 5ft 11in tall and of medium build. He has grey, receding hair, blue eyes and wears spectacles.
He also wears a hearing aid in both ears.
He was last seen wearing light coloured cargo trousers and a grey or green sweatshirt.
Anyone who has either seen Dr Stanford since yesterday or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact Selby police on 0845 60 60 247, quoting reference 12110111977.
