Attempted theft in Selby

Police are appealing for witnesses following the attempted theft of a caravan in the Selby area.

It occurred at a property on Gravelhill Lane in Whitley at approximately 10.15am on Monday 16th May. The two men who attempted to steal the caravan were driving a stolen Peugeot Expert van which they abandoned at the address. They left the area on foot prior to police officers arriving at the scene. It is believed that they may have been picked up by a Ford Fiesta or Ford Mondeo.

The first suspect is described as being tall, white and aged in his late twenties. At the time he was wearing a shiny black coat, with jeans and white trainers.

The second man is white, 6ft tall with a slim build and tanned complexion. He was wearing a red tee shirt and grey trousers.

Police Constable Kim Copestake, of the Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

“I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the men acting suspiciously in the Whitley area around the time of the attempted theft.

“I would also like hear from anyone who can identify the men responsible and ask that they contact me at the earliest opportunity.”
