Police hunt for missing North Yorkshire man

5:51pm 15th October 2009

A 40 year old man has gone missing from his home in Lower Dunsforth near Boroughbridge.

Simon Geoffrey Pearson was last seen by his family on Wednesday morning and there was a sighting of him walking about a mile away from his home.

Police are concerned, as Simon left his home in a distressed state without his wallet, keys or mobile phone.

He is described as white, approximately 6ft tall, with a shaven head.

He was last seen wearing dark blue jeans, a green and brown camouflage jacket with a grey top underneath.  He was also wearing sunglasses.

Inspector Bob Moore of Harrogate police said: "Simon enjoys outdoor pursuits including fishing and shooting and we believe he may still be in the countryside around Lower Dunsforth, Whixley and Green Hammerton.  It is possible he may take to farm outbuildings or sheds for shelter.

"We are asking local residents to check their outbuildings for any signs of occupancy and to contact police if they believe someone may have used them for shelter. Simon's family are very distraught at his disappearance and anxioius to find him."
