More York stone nicked

York city council

4:28pm 5th May 2011

More paving stones have been nicked in York.

This time they were taken from Jameson Terrace.

It's the fourth time a theft like this has happened in the last month.

Residents are being urged don't be coned by workmen, claiming to be from the council, who're stealing the stabs.

Martin Horner, head of Civil Engineering, City of York Council, said:

"Council teams can be easily identified because they will arrive at the site of work in a City of York Council liveried vehicle and will be able to provide proof of identification. All bonafide work will be carried out within normal working hours.

"Anyone wanting to report further instances of missing stone should call the council on 01904 551550."
