Luke Parry and his charity bike ride in aid of the earthquake appeal for Christchurch, NZ and Japan.
As mentioned, Luke arrived in Istanbul last weekend, safe and well, if not a bit tired. Fortunately for him
he met up with a charity organiser for the european union whilst in the capital who has so generously offered
a room for Luke to stay with him and his family, so he has enjoyed a final week of local knowledge, relaxation and sightseeing.
He set off from Westminster, London on 19th March with just his bike, tent and survival gear, and has travelled through over 13 countries, but if you look at this website you will see a blog for most days of his adventure, his website is london2istanbul.com, where there is also a donation link for the charity, which is channelled through the red cross for Christchurch. As the Japan earthquakeh sadly happened just after he had set up his website for New Zealand, he decided to add this appeal.
You will see on the website that the current total that has been raised is £1,070, so any future donations would also help.
Most of the donations have been through family and friends, it would be nice to bring in a wider audience, we have distributed leaflets all around York area and East Riding, he has been on Radio Coventry as he is studying Engineering at Warwick University, so is currently living in that area, ie. Leamington Spa.
If you have time to read his blogs, you will find they give a good insight into what he has faced throughout his journey, met interesting people, on the whole who have been very helpful and kind, in taking an interest in what he has been doing and also some in their hospitality by way of offering him a room for the night, although most of the journey he has been camping out.

Luke flies back to the UK from Istanbul late this afternoon, just in time for the Royal Wedding!!!
