Voting day for Yorkshire

It's time to decide if the future of our voting system should change.

We take to the polling stations to choose our local councilors, but it's also to decide if the vote should change, giving us the opportunity to show the order you would chose the candidates.

The list of candidates for the forthcoming City of York Council elections is now available on the authority's website here

All 47 council 'seats' are being contested on 5 May, representing 22 wards across the city.

Kersten England, City of York Council's chief executive and the Returning Officer for York's local election said:

"Local elections give residents the chance to say who they want to represent them on the council for the next four years, so it's crucial that people use their vote. I'd urge anyone who isn't registered to contact the electoral team as soon as possible."
