A63 crash kills 15 month old boy

Police are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision.

It occurred at approximately 4.20pm on Thursday 7th April on the A63 Selby bypass, near to the junction with Gateforth New Road.

The collision involved a light green Honda Jazz travelling from the A1238 roundabout and a red Renault Traffic Master van heading in the opposite direction.

The 20 year old woman driving the car, an 18 year old man and a 15 month old boy in the Honda Jazz, who are all from Selby, were airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary.

Sadly, the child died as a result of his injuries. The man and woman remain in Leeds General Infirmary in a stable condition.

The 48 year old, Selby man, who was driving the Renault was taken to Pinderfields Hospital, where he currently remains.

We are not yet in a position to name the child who died.

Traffic Constable Gemma Brett, of the force’s Roads Policing Group, said:

“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the collision prior to the collision."
