Some hazardous chemicals have been stolen near Selby.

Two 10 litre drums of Spruce weed killer have been taken off the back of a lorry this week as it was parked-up in Burton Salmon.

It happened on Lunnfields Lane in Burton Salmon sometime between 7.45pm on Tuesday 29th March 2011 and 6am on Wednesday 30th March 2011.

The substance carries a haz-chem level 9 warning.

This means that it's dangerous as it can self combust.

Inspector Chris Witty, of the Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

As this is a hazardous chemical which can pose a significant risk to those handing it, I need to speak to anyone who knows anything about this theft as a matter of urgency. If you can help to locate the containers please contact me as soon as possible.”

Anyone who can help to identify those involved with this theft is asked to contact PC Victoria Earle on 0845 60 60 24 7 quoting reference number 12110050219. Or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
