Pensioner's shock at late night intruders

An elderly woman in Great Smaeton near Northallerton been left in shock after intruders broke into her home as she slept.

Police are now hunting for two men who broke-in on Monday night.

They stole her handbag and purse and left the pensioner feeling very upset.

The first man police want to trace is described as being aged in his late 30s, white, approximately 5ft 8in tall with a stocky build and mousey coloured hair. He was wearing a grey fleece when he committed the burglary.

The second man, aged in his 20s, is white around 5ft 6in tall with a stocky build and dark hair. At the time of the burglary he was wearing a blue fleece with a white motif at the top of one of the sleeves.

Detective Constable Lee Allenby, of Northallerton CID, said:

"This is a shocking crime which naturally left the lady feeling very upset.

"I urge anyone who can help identify either of the thieves, who committed this disgraceful burglary, to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible."
