A fatality in Yorkshire's high winds

A Yorkshire pedestrian has been killed and another injured after a lorry overturned in high winds in Leeds city centre.

Police are urging motorists to avoid the area.

High winds have battered Yorkshire for much of the day, causing some minor structural damage to buildings and problems on the roads.

Drivers are being urged to take extra care.

So what other carnage has been caused?

Well earlier a HGV and a van were blown over on the A1.

A tree's blown onto a train in Knaresborough, injuring two passengers.

Parked cars have been damaged in York and Ripon by falling branches.

Metal, plastic and other debris has also been spotted blowing around the A1 and in A19.

A fence was blown over in the village of Drax near Selby allowing sheep to escape from a field.
