Budget for York decided on later.

York city council

Today's the day the city of York council will confirm the budget.

170 jobs will have to go, but most of these may be from retirment, vacancies and voluntary redundancy.

The council look likely to stop free nursery child care placements for two year olds.

Car parking will go up by 10p in October.

while concessary fares for park-and-ride will also go up by 50p.

However there is expected to be some good news.

Council tax will be frozen this year

2 million pounds will be ploughed in to adult social services

We also hope to see flood defences on leeman road recieve a million pounds and all york's libraies will remain open..

The plan to build a new swimming pool with York uni and 2 new primary schools are all still on the cards.

The full council meeting kicks off at 6.30 tonight.

So we'll know the full extent of the cuts by tomorrow morning.
