A64 crash update

5:20pm 19th January 2011

An update now on yesterday's crash on the A64.

Police have confirmed two people were being seriously injured in the three car pile-up near the Hopgrove roundabout.

A man and wife, both in their 60s, remain in a poorly but stable condition in York District Hospital.

Officers are now trying to trace the driver of an articulated lorry, bearing the company name CEMEX, who may have witnessed the incident.

Traffic Constable Andy Forth, of the force's Roads Policing Group, said:

"I am particularly interested in speaking to the driver of the CEMEX articulated lorry which was on this stretch of the A64 at the time of the collision as I believe they may have vital information.

"I would also like to speak to anyone else who was on the A64 in the area, travelling west or east bound, and either witnessed the collision or saw any of the vehicles involved prior to the incident."

Anyone who can assist with this enquiry is asked to contact TC Andy Forth on 0845 60 60 24 7 quoting reference number 12110009393
