11:27am 19th January 2011
Detectives in York are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed outside Waterworld.
The victim, a 21-year-old local woman, was approached by two men at around 6.30am on Tuesday 18 January 2011, on Kathryn Avenue, at Monks Cross.
The men assaulted her and stole cash from her handbag before making off in the direction of Malton Road.
She suffered a swollen cheek after being punched during the incident and also sustained scratches to her neck and hands.
The suspects, who were both wearing black hooded tops, have been described as white and aged between 20 and 25-years-old.
Police are now conducting forensic enquiries in the area in an attempt to identify the suspects.
Detective Constable Michael Johnston, of York CID, said:
“Fortunately, the victim was not seriously injured during this incident, however she is understandably upset.
“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time to contact the police or Crimestoppers if they witnessed the incident or saw any suspicious behaviour.
“There will not have been many people around at that time of the morning, therefore someone may remember seeing the two suspects.
“Any information at all may be vital to helping us progress the investigation.”
Anyone with information that could help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact, DC Michael Johnston, of York CID, on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting reference number 12110009234.
