Roads should be repaired - from Yorkshire MEP.

6:26am 11th January 2011

MEP Godfrey Bloom has written to York City Council asking for reassurance that dangerous road surface damage caused by the icy weather will be swiftly repaired.

Mr Bloom said:

"In view of budget cuts I am very concerned that when the bad weather has passed the motorists of Oldham will still be left facing hazardous conditions," said Mr Bloom, UKIP Euro MP.

"After last winter's snow and ice, potholes created serious problems and in some areas local authorities were not as speedy at fixing them as they should have been.

"I know local authority funds have been badly hit but it is imperative that the lives of local people are not endangered by large pot holes and nor should their vehicles be at risk of damage,"
