YORK MUM OF 3 GETS BEHIND THE LENS IN BEACHWARE FOR TESCO DIETS CHARITY CALENDAR
Alexis Travis, a mum of 3 from Copmanthorpe, recently braved getting behind the lens for a Tesco Diets charity Calendar.
She posed for the month of May to show how her weight loss of 1 stone 7lbs helped her to feel more confident and at ease with herself at the beach with her family.
She hopes to inspire those who are planning holidays in the summer but feel they don't have the body confidence they need to enjoy time at the beach or pool.
Each "calendar girl" was asked to choose a charity of their choice and Alexis chose The Jane Tomlinson appeal, set up by a Yorkshire woman and helps children's and cancer charities.
As a result of her weight loss she now regularly runs and has entered several Jane Tomlinson running events. Something she could not have even considered before.
Alexis says "I feel healthier, have loads of energy, am more confident and can wear the clothes I want to!"
In November 2010 Alexis travelled to a studio in London with 11 other successful ladies and experienced what it is like to be a model for the day.
She was styled for the beach, laden down with buckets and spades and posed like a professional for the camera.
The 11 other inspirational ladies all had their own stories to tell of the benefits losing weight has brought to their lives.
Michaela, a 36 year old mum of 9 now has the self-belief to juggle going back to college while being a super mum while Indiya 29 now has an improved relationship with her boyfriend!
Laura McLoughlin, Tesco Diets spokesperson who attended the photoshoot commented on the determination and energy each lady showed.
"All of the calendar girls were near pros showing a certain joie de vivre behind the lens and genuinely wanted to let others know that if they can do it anyone can".
The Tesco Diets charity calendar is now on sale online at www.tescodiets.com/calendar and all proceeds to 13 different charities including the Tesco UK and Irish charities; CLIC Sargent and The Irish Cancer Society.
Charities chosen by the calendar girls:
Newmarket Town Pastors
Cancer Research UK
Child Bereavment charity
The Jane Tomlinson appeal
Sands, Stillbirth and neonatal death charity
St Catherine's hospice, Crawley
Chestnut Tree House
St. Wilfrid's hospice, Chichester
