YORK CHILDREN’S SERVICES RETAINS EXCELLENT RATING
City of York Council’s Children’s Services have once again been given the highest possible rating by Ofsted and have kept their place as one of the best performing Children’s Services in the Country.
In this year’s Annual Performance Assessment, Ofsted rated the Council’s Children’s Services as ‘Performing Excellently’, the highest score available.
Last year York was one of only 9 authorities nationally and only 2 outside London to be awarded the top rating.
Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Children and Young People’s Services, Councillor Carol Runciman said she was pleased with the results of the inspection.
She said, “I am delighted that the excellent work done in the department has been recognised by independent inspectors. This report demonstrates that services to children in the city are of an exceptionally high standard and that continuous improvements are being made.”
“Very few local authorities are rated as ‘performing excellently’, so our staff deserve a great deal of credit for their hard work. Their dedication ensures that the service is always looking for ways to make a positive impact on the lives of children in York.”
“My thanks go to everyone who has contributed to this tremendous result.”
