A rail enthusiast is being put forward for a police commendation after his quick actions helped catch and convict a man.
22 year old Paul Andrew Dawson from Leeman Road in York was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison for endangering safety and trespassing on the railway.
The train spotter, who doesn't want to be named, took photos of Dawson and four other youths trespassing on the line and destroying a sign that provided vital evidence in court.
