Litter warning in York
5:46am 30th September 2009
Drop a cigarette butt on the street and you could be fined £75.
The City of York Council's launching a campaign to keep the area litter free and are urging smokers to be responsible.
In just four days, over 30,000 cigarette ends were collected from the city centre alone.
Officials will be on Parliament Street today spreading the message that throwing a cigarette end onto the floor can "seriously damage your wealth".
