A64 Crash victim named

Update Friday 22 October 2010: Police are now in a position to identify the man who died as a result of a road traffic collision on the A64 near Tadcaster on Monday 18 October 2010.

He was James Winter, aged 43, from Crossgates, Leeds.

Officers are still seeking witnesses to the collision which occurred on the eastbound carriageway, just past the A162 on-slip, at approximately 7.50am.

Mr Winter was driving a red Citroen Berlingo van when he was involved in a collision with a grey BMW 320. He then hit a fence before his vehicle caught fire.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw either vehicle prior to the collsion is urged to contact Traffic Constable Dave Hunter, of North Yorkshire Police's Road Policing Group, on 0845 60 60 24 7.
