Stories from the front line in Afghanistan...

In a Minster FM exclusive we've sent our reporter out to the hospital at Camp Bastian, where troops from Strensall in York are currently serving.

Lieutenant Colonel Tim Davies is the Commanding Officer.

He says they're resources are being stretched...

 

 

York soldier Captain Sean McGary's from the Queen Alexander Royal Army Nurse Core. He says the training he received at Strensall Barracks has proved invaluable in Afghanistan.

He's currently on a tour of duty - we caught up with him at Camp Bastian.

Sean told Minster FM it's a real team effort there to treat injured troops...

Once he even had to donate his own blood...

Now, 

Medical soldiers from Strensall are under immense pressure in Afghanistan due to the sheer number of wounded troops.

In a Minster FM exclusive we can reveal the hospital staff at Camp Basiton are struggling to find bed space.

To date over 330 British soliders have been killed in Afghanistan.

Thousands more have been wounded.
