We've got nearly 14 thousand students in York - but only 4,600 hundred beds in the halls of residence.

A freedom of information request has revealed the shocking stats, proving those in higher education are forced to rent private-lets.

It's putting a strain on the housing market with less affordable properties available.

And with the Heslington East Campus expanding in the future, it'll attract even more students in to the city.
